Design Within Reach

Design Within Reach was founded back in 1998 as a luxury destination for authentic and decor. Unlike other retailers and brands that do something similar, DWR’s products are reproductions versus vintage, so you won’t have to worry about rewiring a lamp for a more contemporary electrical system, or re-filling a deflated sofa cushion. Everything is brand-new, but designed according to the original.

Rejuvenation

Rejuvenation designs plenty of its own pieces, but a lot of the best-sellers are inspired by famous furniture, including these cane-back armchairs, which are reminiscent of Pierre Jeanneret’s Chandigarh chairs. These ones, however, are a lot more affordable, as is all of Rejuvenation’s inventory, so if you want luxury for less, this is a good place to look.

Arhaus

Arhaus furniture leans more traditional, but with a little bit of edge to it. If you’re concerned with minimizing your environmental impact, Arhaus is a great outpost to shop because its Green Initiative is at the core of the brand’s work. The initiative is the brand’s promise to utilizes sustainably sourced, reclaimed, and recycled materials as much as possible. The designers also travel the world in search of the most specialized, niche artisans. Everything, from the marble table lamps to the reclaimed wood nightstands, is heirloom-quality, but not heirloom prices.

Crate & Barrel

Crate & Barrel may be synonymous with cool, contemporary furniture and decor, but the brand has actually been around since 1962. Of course, more than six decades later, the brand has a lot more on offer than a few pieces of furniture, which is why it’s our go-to for pretty much everything. In fact, if you know you like the pieces, but you don’t know how to pair them together or what sizes to get, make sure to use Crate & Barrel’s free in-house interior design services.

Soho Home

Anyone who’s stepped foot in any of Soho House’s 42 clubs knows that revelling in the interiors are half the fun of being a member. Until only a few years ago, there was no way to replicate the hot, moody look in your own space because all of the furniture was designed by the members-only club’s in-house team of creatives. Now, however, you can! Soho Home sells pretty much everything you’d spot in one of the Houses around the world, including sofas, lamps, barware, and more.

Maiden Home

Maiden Home is a female-founded and -operated brand based out of New York City. All of the pieces are designed in the Big Apple and made by hand in North Carolina, so unless the furniture is shipping to its forever home outside of the U.S., everything will always stay domestic. Though the pieces look utterly contemporary, there’s something Scandinavian about them that makes them extra visually captivating to us.

They can help you create a dreamy oasis you’ll love.

We couldn’t round up our favorite luxury furniture brands and not include Outer, which, as its name implies, sells outdoor pieces. All of them—from the dining tables to the lounge chairs—feature the same minimalist, clean-lined aesthetic, so any combination looks good together. They’re also designed to be durable, comfortable, and sustainable, all elements we love.

luxury furniture brands

Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily is famous for its collection of coastal-inspired furniture that somehow works in any space—no matter how far it is from the ocean. Castlery

Above all else, furniture should be comfortable. Next and almost as important is style. Castlery pieces happen to prioritize both. The brand sells pretty much every type of furniture you’d need to outfit your whole home, but it’s most famous for its well-loved sofas, which are as comfortable as they look. Plus, in most cases, there’s an opportunity to customize your piece, so before adding the in-stock option to your cart, peep all of the options to personalize it to your space.

luxury furniture brands

Burrow

Burrow is another brand most well-known for its sofas, but we want to shine a light on the other furniture because it’s just as good as the sumptuous sectionals and cozy loveseats. MacKenzie-Childs

Anyone with an affinity for bold patterns and a smart use of color probably loves MacKenzie-Childs, which was founded by a husband-and-wife team back in 1983. In the 30 years since, they’ve expanded their operation from ceramics and cookware to full-blown furniture collections.

Wayfair

When you hear Wayfair, luxury furniture may not come to mind, but hear us out: Wayfair, which is known for its fast, free shipping, carries thousands of brands, some of which are pretty luxe. Lumens

Lumens has it all, but most of its inventory spans the , so you can expect some seriously cool fixtures. One of our personal favorites is the Arco lamp, which was designed in 1962 by brothers Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo for Flos. More than 60 years later, this arched floor lamp is still in production, as it has become a collector’s item for midcentury enthusiasts.

Albany Park

Albany Park is one of those brands you love as much for the cozy furniture as you do for the backstory. It was founded by husband-and-wife Darryl and Jessica Sharpton in 2019 out of nothing other than necessity. The couple was in hot pursuit of a new sofa for their home and were overwhelmed by the thousands of options on the market, so they thought long and hard about what they wanted and designed it themselves, which was the impetus for their new brand. Albany Park sells only a few models (with different iterations) of each furniture type, minimizing the amount of unnecessary stress that goes into furniture shopping.

West Elm

Midcentury aficionados definitely know West Elm, which has used the design era as a launching point for its clever adaptations of iconic 20th-century pieces. Though the furniture itself doesn’t dupe any specific products, the look leans heavily midcentury with its organic materials and gentle curves.

Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler operates on a totally different wavelength than many of our other picks. It’s louder, bolder, and more colorful. Each piece is designed by the interior designer himself, so there’s a touch of whimsy and youthfulness in everything—from the catchall trays to the sofas. 1stDibs

1stDibs is home to some of the rarest finds on earth, which may sound dramatic, but it’s true. The vibe it’s been going for since its inception in 2000? How We Chose These Luxury Furniture Brands

At House Beautiful, we believe in a healthy mix of high and low. We tend to focus on the affordable finds a lot, so it’s time we give the a time to shine. There are a lot out there, but they’re not all good, so when I set out to create this list, I wanted to focus only on the best. The list started with brands that I have shopped, including 1stDibs (where I used to work), Pottery Barn, and Design Within Reach, among others. I know I’ve had good experiences shopping the brands and still love the pieces I’ve purchased there. Next, I asked my interior designer friends that we’ve featured both online and across the pages of the magazine for their suggestions. If the brand designer-approved and -loved, it definitely deserves a spot on the list.
