A DIY fan has created a homemade weed killer.

She used two household items to banish unwanted visitors from her backyard.

It exceeded all her expectations because this concoction absolutely did the trick.

She could still see the results a year after using it.

Nancy’s (@simplystyled.inspo) weed-busting video has gone viral: At the last count, over 47,000 people tuned in.

Weeds are the bane of proud householders everywhere.

These pesky plants pop up anywhere and everywhere.

They are hard to contain without resorting to harsh chemicals.

But Nancy has found another solution and you might already have the makings for this weed buster in your cupboard.

This mixture will not cost the earth, but it will blitz the earth, so be careful where you use it.

You will need one gallon of white vinegar and a cup of salt.

Shake together well and pour into a container.

Sprinkle liberally all over the offending weeds.

My incredibly simple method is the best way to water tomato plants – it soaks the soil & avoids root damage

“Poured it all over the weeds and it absolutely did the trick,” said Nancy in her post.

“It’s amazing. There are no weeds in sight,” she added.

Any weeds that did show had escaped the first round-up, but they were going to get a dose of Nancy’s mixture and would soon be history.

Commenters didn’t want to miss out.

“What magic is this? I’m trying immediately,” vowed one viewer.

  1. Banana peels, vinegar, and coffee grounds are often recommended as natural fertilizers.
  2. Dollar Tree sells four packs of seeds for $1.25.
  3. Try a vertical planter like Amazon’s Mr. Stacky 5 Tier Stackable Planter, $35 to make more use of a small space.
  4. Use netting like the Garden Netting Pest Barrier, $8, from Amazon to keep away bugs that eat your vegetables.
  5. Try sacrificial planting to reduce the use of pesticides and keep pests away from your garden. Deliberately growing certain plants to attract agricultural pests can keep them away from the plants you want to protect. Examples include marigolds, lavender, catnip, and chives.
  6. For pesky weeds in your garden, the Grampa’s Weeder – The Original Stand-Up Weed Puller Tool with Long Handles, $45, from Amazon is a helpful tool you can use without having to bend over.

There was a word of warning from another avid user.

“I’ve been using this for years. But everyone be careful. It will kill everything,” she said.

Another viewer identified the weed in Nancy’s garden.

“What? That was creeping bellflower. Nothing kills creeping bellflower. Damn. I’m doing this,” she said.

“This is my favorite potion. It’s also pet-friendly. I add dish soap to my ingredients though,” wrote another fan.
