Eligible landscaping businesses can apply for a voucher to help cover the cost of zero-emission mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers and more.

Keeping garden trims and the air clean is the goal of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. On Thursday, the group partnered with United Latinos to promote a $1.2 million commercial electric lawn and garden equipment program for landscapers who reside and operate within Sacramento County. Officials say the program helps landscapers switch from diesel and gas-powered lawnmowers to zero-emission machines. Eligible landscaping businesses can apply for a voucher to help cover the cost of zero-emission mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers and more. The program has helped phase out at least 80 pieces of equipment for more eco-friendly options. “As you know, lawn and garden equipment pollutes a lot of emissions.
