The Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center has created these properties to help veterans, according to Fox affiliate .

It has been hoped these people can use the homes to help them move out on their own.

These tiny houses have been in the works for nearly two years but are scheduled to open in June.

The organization has confirmed that the homes have been furnished with essentials like a bed and a small kitchen.

One current drawback is that the parking lot has not been completed.

The organization estimated this will be finished in a few weeks.

A second important point to note is that these homes will mostly be free, but inhabitants could pay a small amount towards rent when they can afford to do so, according to the organization’s chief operating officer Doug Allen.

“However, if and when the veteran is able to afford a nominal rent, they will pay a nominal rent and eventually we’ll get them back on their feet well enough that they’ll want to move out onto their own,” Allen told Fox affiliate .

He also shared the current stage these homes are at and what additional features could be added.

“We have to put in some incidentals and, you know, the livable things right now,” he said.

I transformed an old school bus into a tiny home – it has everything I need and I don’t pay a penny in rent

“It’s just a bed and, you know, refrigerator, microwave that aren’t hooked up.”

Allen also shared that a second phase of this project has been planned.

This will include a resource center for the tiny home village.

The organization’s shared the purpose and intended benefits of this site.

Eligibility criteria for the tiny home village

The Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center has created a new tiny home village with 23 units.

This project has nearly been completed and will soon look to house people but the target group is very specific.

The eligibility requirements for prospective inhabitants have been shared.

This tiny home village is only open to veterans who are struggling with homelessness.

“In this community of veterans, we will be able to help our vets as they help each other in their day to day lives and activities,” the website said.

“This village also allows our vets to find familiarity with one another, making it feel more like home.”

Allen stressed the importance of this project.

“That’s a tough thing to swallow,” Allen said.

“We shouldn’t have homeless veterans. However, we do, and we are doing our best to get some of those ladies and gentlemen off the street and get their lives back on track again.”
