Do you have hazardous materials sitting around your house like paint thinner or fertilizers? You’ve got a chance to get it out of your house June 1 thanks to Tuscaloosa’s latest household hazardous waste disposal day.
The event is happening from 8 a.m. to noon at Tuscaloosa’s Public Safety Logistics building, 3311 Reese Phifer Ave.
Household hazardous waste items you can drop off include:
- Household cleaners
- Automotive fluids including antifreeze, oil and gasoline
- Paint or paint thinner
- Herbicides, lawn chemicals or fertilizers
- Pool chemicals
- Batteries or light bulbs
- Pesticides
- Camp- or grill-sized propane tanks (1-pound or 20-pound tanks)
Participants will be asked to stay in their vehicles while city staff members unload items.
Here’s what you have to keep at home:
- Tires
- Medical waste
- Electronics
This event is open to Tuscaloosa County residents only. Waste will not be accepted from commercial businesses, nonprofits or residents outside Tuscaloosa County.
